Kristen Welker to interview Trump in first network sit-down since election

President-elect Trump plans to sit down with NBC News’s Kristen Welker for an interview on “Meet the Press” on Sunday, the network announced Wednesday.

It would mark his first network interview since winning the 2024 election against Vice President Harris last month.

NBC announced the interview will air during its Sunday morning show at 10:30 a.m. and that highlights will be released prior to the show. The full video interview and transcript will also be published online Sunday.

The interview comes after Trump named his picks for multiple top Cabinet posts, some of which are facing scrutiny in the Senate, and outlined plans for Day 1 of his administration, including signing an executive order to impose steep 25 percent tariffs on all goods from Canada and Mexico and even higher tariffs on China.

Welker interviewed Trump in September 2023, during which they discussed immigration and what a second Trump term would look like. That interview was Trump’s only network sit-down during the 2024 campaign cycle, according to NBC.

Welker, who previously was a White House correspondent for NBC, has been the moderator of “Meet the Press” since September 2023, taking over for former moderator Chuck Todd.
